Purpose of the Tree Climbing Events Committee (TCEC)

  To organise and coordinate annual tree climbing events in conjunction with staff

  To ensure all tree climbing events are professional, educational and financially viable

  To provide strategic direction and support to staff to ensure continuous improvement of tree climbing events, to ensure all events meet the mission, and to mitigate financial risk to the association. 

  To continually ensure loyalty is shown to long term sponsors.

Work Plan

1. Complete a due diligence study and prepare a favourable budget for the proposed TECE events. The TCEC chair shall provide the relevant information to the Director sitting on the TCEC to present to the board.

 

2. Prepare and manage a project implementation schedule to ensure that the event is financially successful and all safety is adhered to.

 

3.Ensure the appropriate committee members are available one day prior to the commencement of the event to assist with the set up, and work as a team during the entire event.

 

4. Ensure the appropriate committee members are available to assist with all facets of the competition to ensure the event is a success.

 

5. Produce a roster for the event period for committee and volunteers roles

 

6. Review event evaluations and post-event surveys, and make recommendations on areas for improvement. Suggest adjustments, additions and deletions to improve each event.

 

7. Explore and consolidate methods of management that will ensure no events are a financial risk. 

 

8. Explore areas of growth for additional events.

 

9. Liaise with and work in close collaboration with the Conference Events Committee

 

10. Coordinate with sponsors to enhance opportunities related to events.

Committee Structure

1. The committee chair is appointed by the AA Board.  The chair can serve for a period of 3 years. The chair may be re-appointed consecutively once only.

 

2. The committee consists of:

a.    TCEC Chair person

b.    Major Events Director

c.    Staff Liaison (non-voting)

d.    TCEC Head judge

e.    TCEC Head technician

f.     TCEC Set up co-ordinator

 

3. For committee positions that are not at the discretion of other entities, the recommended term on the committee is three years, renewable for one consecutive term.

 

4. Members are appointed based on their business and technical expertise and should represent various disciplines and geographical regions within the Urban Forestry and Utility professions.
