2012 Annual Conference, Trade Show, Workshops, ATCC and APTCC

The dates are confirmed for Arboriculture Australia's™ 2012 annual conference; this is the largest education event dedicated to both the Urban Forest, Environment and Utility Arborists in the Asia Pacific Region and is world renowned for its high standard of education. 

This conference is a must attend event for anyone who is involved with Urban trees and Utilities above and below ground.

The 2012 Arboriculture Australia™ annual conference, workshops and trade show will be held at Wrest Point Hobart.  This venue has 1st class conference facilities and will make your conference a relaxing education event.  Delegates will have free wifi in the presentation rooms, trade exhibit area and foyers to ensure you can keep in touch with work.

This year’s event will be held in Hobart starting with the Australia Tree Climbing Championship preliminary events on Friday 27th April and the masters on the 28th April.  On Sunday 29th April, Arboriculture Australia™ will be presenting the 2 hour workshops which are always booked out, so get in early.

Also on SUnday the APTCC tree climbing masters will be held in Saint Davids Park.  You will see the best climbers in the Asia Pacifc Region competeing for the title.

Sunday night will see the welcome reception; this will be onsite in a nice veiwing area so you can take in the beautiful Derwett River.

Monday 30th April will see the first full day session of the conference, both the Urban Foresters and Utility Arborists will be delighted with the conference rooms, maybe the best we have ever had.  With international and Australian presenter, the education offered will again be first class.

The traditional Annual Dinner will be held on Monday night, this is arboriculture biggest networking session, spend time with peers, friends and the speakers over a 3 course meal.

Tuesday 1st May will see another day of intense education, with the evening set aside for delegates to enjoy some of the other venues around this unique city.

On Wednesday 2nd May we have arranged a great tour, we are heading to Mt Wellington to take in the splendid views and then heading out to the world renown Tahune Forest Airwalk and on the retrun to the Geeveston Forestry Interpretive centre.

Crowned by alpine vegetation, dusted by snow in winter, Mt Wellington enables the visitor to glimpse the unfolding panorama of river, fields and the aquatic setting of Hobart town.

Walk the tree tops of pristine forest at Tahune Forest Airwalk having travelled the Huon River Valley, a region of tended fields, superb forest clad rivers and fishing villages set by picturesque inlets.

Itinerary

08.00     Depart Wrest Point Hotel

 

08.30     Arrive at Mt Wellington summit.  At the summit of Mount Wellington (1270m), the Pinnacle has great views and extremes of weather! Lookouts and observation decks provide vistas over Hobart and towards the east coast, and to the west over the World Heritage Area of southern Tasmania.

 

11.00     Arrive Tahune Airwalk. Take a stroll through the canopy of a tall eucalypt forest, home to the tallest flowering plant on earth, the Eucalypts regnans.
This multi-award winning attraction culminates in a cantilever set high over the confluence of the mighty Huon and Picton Rivers.   It is recommended to allow 50 mins for the Airwalk

 

11.50     Enjoy a tranquil stroll along the river bank to the most accessible stand of Huon pines in all of Tasmania. It is recommended to allow 20 mins for the Huon Pine walk

 

12.10     Enjoy a Gourmet BBQ (menu below)

 

13.10     Experience the thrill of watching the might rivers at Tahune on the swinging bridge walk.  Featuring two swinging bridges suspended from the river banks, you’ll feel the power of nature on this walk as the mighty Huon and Picton Rivers rush right beneath your feet. Allow 1 hr return for this walk

 

14.30   Coach departs for the Big tree lookout

 

14.45   Arrive at the Big Tree lookout.  Walk along the viewing platform to see the 400 ton Swamp Gum

 

15.00   Depart for Geeveston

 

15.15   Arrive at the Geeveston Forestry Interpretive centre

 

16.00  Depart Geeveston for the return to Hobart

 

17.00 Arrive Hobart.
