National Urban Forest Alliance
Arboriculture Australia’s President Robert Sutton announced at the association’s Annual Dinner last Monday night that a new era of Urban Tree Management has been born from the ‘i-tree ECO Australia’ project. He explained that this is the first time many of the not for profit associations, councils and private companies involved with Urban Forest had become united to take the lead to the federal government.
National Urban Forest Alliance Chair Craig Hallam said the government advisors have clearly missed calculated the importance and continually overlooked the largest and most secure forest in Australia with the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI). Hallam said it is time Prime Minister Gillard’s advisors learnt that Urban Street, Park and Bush land Tree Reserves are just not for aesthetics; they are the largest part of the urban ecology and should be measured this way.
