We are looking for an Experienced Arborist to join Muru Mittigar to assist the CEO in establishing a new business unit. 

Muru Mittigar is a not for profit organisation that aims to improve the economic and social capacity of Aboriginal people and the board strongly believe that the establishing of specialist tree services business will aid in achieving this purpose by offering employment opportunities to the Indigenous and wider Western Sydney Community through apprenticeships and traineeships.

Although the role will not be easy; it will be rewarding as you will know you were a part of making a difference to bridge the gap.

Please note: This is a hands on role, supervising and working closely with a team to deliver arboriculture and bush regeneration projects.

About the business

Muru Mittigar is a multi award winning not for profit Indigenous Organisation based in Western Sydney. We have a strong brand in the local community and work primarily on Resource Management Projects.

All profits are reinvested into the organisation to assist in delivery of Muru Mittigar's purpose.

Our purpose is;

  • to advance Aboriginal culture (in particular Darug culture),
  • improve the economic and social capacity of Aboriginal people and
  • empower meaningful participation to enhance their role as traditional Custodians of Country.

Muru Mittigar means 'Pathway to Friends' in the Darug language.

Qualifications & experience

  • Certificate III in Arboriculture or equivalent
  • Drivers License
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Chainsaw Operators Ticket
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in managing a team delivering arboricultural maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a team with strong commitment to safe work practices


Tasks & responsibilities

  • Aid in establishing the Tree Services Team within Muru Mittigar
  • Mentor and train a team of trainees and apprentices in arboriculture
  • Deliver and oversee arboriculture works
  • Pricing & quoting works
  • Contract management
  • Safety management
